History:
As in any art, in Baltic Old Believer icon painting were best artists, but rather, workshops, because the icon was often a product of collective labor. Top workshops tightly followed the ancient canons, reprinted or copied tracings icons from Stroganov workshops, kept the ancient principles of technology icons.
At the turn of the XIX-XX in Latvia and Estonia there was one best Baltic icon workshop. It was in the village of Paradise, it was directed by Gabriel Frolov (1854-1930).
Among his students were such painters as - P.M. Sofronov, M.G. Solntsev, F.A. Myznikov.
Perfect state of preservation. The icon has a high artistic and antiquarian cultural historical significance.
