St. Guardian Angel with Selected Saints - St. Paraskevi and St. Arkhip.
The second half of the 18th century. Centre-North of Russia. Kostroma or Vologda.
Size: 22,3 x 18,5 x 2,2 cm.
Technique & Material: One piece board with the ark, gesso, tempera, drying oil.
Description: Exquisite miniature painting with a thin graceful drawing. Volumetric faces with characteristic expression, thick rich colors of the saint's clothes and "natural" olive-ocher background allows us to attach this icon to the high north icon painting school of Kostroma or Vologda.
On the top part of the middle-part (srednik) there is the image of the Jesus face on ubrus - icon of the Holy Face.
State of preservation is good. Little "krokelyurs" do not destroy the integrity of the image.
