Description: The Yaroslavl icon painting school stands as a bright star in the sky of the icon painting in the 17th and 19th centuries.

The icon painters of Yaroslavl were talented, fluent in texts. They were educated in reverse perspective architecture, including hagiographically, which made it possible to create unique icons. They had rich sponsors - the city merchants. Yaroslavl was a very rich city, and the merchants were enterprising. One of the main attribution features of Yaroslavl school - rich color palette with the most unusual colors. As in this icon. There are a lot of shades of scarlet cinnabar, pink, green, amazingly sonorous stuffed blue. The entire space of the icon is filled with the prices of the Nativity of Mary. On the top of the icon between two symmetrical towers - bright and clear sky.
Yaroslavl icon painters had access to the most rare paints.
Ideal state of preservation. Icon was cleaned from the dark layer of drying oil.
