Description: The level of icon painting characteristic of the high icon painting of Kostroma of the 18th century. This icon has typical features: blue background, lyrical solution of the horizon with a scarlet sunset, plasticity of figures with a slightly perceptible influence of the Baroque style. The Apostles are depicted in their glory in Heaven.
Apostle Peter holds in his hands the Key to Paradise, Apostle Paul holds the Sword and the Gospel. Scenes of their execution are depicted at the feet of the Apostles. The composition is completed by the image of the Savior at the top of the icon.
This is powerful icon in terms of artistic level and sacred content.
