Description: Restrained and at the same time very elegant, high quality icon. History of the subject and iconography. St. Mary of Egypt - a very significant saint to the whole Christian world. Revered not only in Orthodoxy, but also in Catholicism and the Anglican Church.
It was her spiritual way in the desert for 47 years, where she started from a harlot and ended as the great saint. Mary of Egypt is dedicated to many temples. St. Martyr Karp, was a disciple of the Apostle Paul, then a bishop.
Beheaded for Christ in the 3rd century. Rare icon has a perfect state of preservation.
