Description: This icon is the reference copy of the iconography of the Armory Chamber. All stylistic features of the iconography of Kirill Ulanov’s circle are presented here: the solemnity of the image, the clear graphic design of clothing, the rich use of gold, the bluish-green background with dark margins and the masterpiece level of the face painting.
This icon has rare iconographic version of the Mother of God, where the Child holds in his left hand not a scroll, but a dove. The plot was brought to Russia from Athos in 1393 by the Rev. Arseny Konevsky. The Icon of the Mother of God Konevskaya is deeply revered both in Russia and in Finland.
This icon was cleared of darkened drying oil and dirt.
Icon was purchased from a private collection.
This rare icon in original state of preservation has high spiritual and collection value.
