Description: This icon was painted in 1654, in the city of Shuya (central Russia) by icon painter Gerasim Ikonnikov to get rid of the plague.
The list from an icon is considered not just a copy, but an icon that is painted directly and only from the original, in which case it takes over all miraculous qualities of the original.
During the creation of the list from the miraculous Smolensk icon, its iconography miraculously changed. A feature that distinguishes the Smolensko-Shuiskaya Mother of God - the characteristic position of the arms and legs of Jesus. After prayers in front of the new icon - the plague left the city. There were and still are many wonderful healings from this icon. This icon is the magnificent piece of art from the Armory of the Moscow School Kremlin. Absolutely virtuosic work with the melted gold on the clothes.
This icon has extremely rare plot and is in perfect state of preservation.
There was made the "museum" clearing from drying oil that had darkened over the time.
