In response to a prayerful appeal to him there appeared a miraculous vision in one of the city churches: St. Nicholas appeared in the sky, in a menacing look, and was standing on the Cathedral.
With one his hand he raised his gleaming sword, ready to descend on the heads of enemies, and in the other one he kept Mozhaisk city as a sign of the preservation of its. The Sword and the temple, as symbols of "overcoming the military" and aid in military affairs, at the same time were reminding about the warm protection of the Orthodox faith and the teachings of Christ.
