Description: Saint Simeon of Verkhoturie was a nobleman who was concealing it and chose a life of hardships and poverty. He traveled a lot, but usually lived at the cemetery near the city of Verkhoturie on Ural. Simeon lived an ascetic life, full of hardships and ordeals, and was making clothes for the poor people. In his spare time he loved to catch fish, and that served for creation of his iconography.
Similar to Francis of Assisi and Seraphim of Sarov, he loved to contemplate God through the beauty of nature. Very original iconography with deliberate asymmetry, and at the same time, of high professionalism.
Rare iconography, - the saint is depicted being in two different planes of time and space at the same time. Ideal original state of preservation.
The icon is under the original drying oil.
