Description: A unique monument of ancient Russian icon painting. In favor of the dating of this icon: the shape and processing of the board, counter dowels. One of the main dating evidence is the icon fields that are decorated with transparent white gold on lacquer (gilding on lacquer as glue is a vivid typological sign of the 16th century, since starting from the 17th century burgundy "polyment" has been widely used as glue in icon painting, and gold leaf acquired a brighter dense shade). Also, the brightest moment of the icon painting tradition is the reverse perspective of the faces of Emmanuel and the Mother of God.
This icon is the rarest example of Old Russian icon painting. This icon has museum value. Very good state of preservation for its age.
State of preservation: The icon was cleared from under a layer of dirt and a thick layer of dense drying oil (a rectangular fragment of drying oil on the top right field of the icon). This icon is preserved with full preservation of the original author's painting.
