Description: The plot of this icon is revered in both Orthodoxy and Catholicism. In Catholicism it is believed that the icon was created specifically for the gates of the Vilnius city wall.
In 1829, during the removal of the robe and during the restoration process, an ancient Slavic inscription was revealed on this icon - the hymn to the Mother of God “The Most Honest Cherub”[5].
On the head of the Mother of God there is a two-tiered crown - the baroque crown of the Queen of Heaven, which is placed on her head by two Angels. The nimbus of the
Mother of God is surrounded by sharp rays of radiance with stars. The blue palette emphasizes the tenderness of the image of the Mother of God. It is known that to the miraculous image of the Mother of God Ostrobramskaya, goes back to the iconography of the Mother of God Tenderness, before which the Monk Seraphim of Sarov prayed.
