Technique & Material: Cypress board with an ark, tempera painting, gilding, drying oil.
Description: Exclusive very rare icon of the Resurrection and Descent into Hell in the center. There are two rows with 28 icons of holidays and 4 evangalists in the corners: Mark, Matthew, Luke, John. The highest and the rarest plot. Usually this type of the icon contains 12 stories around the central scene of the Resurrection. More rarer icons have 16 or 18 stories.
The icon was created in one of the best famous Russian workshops and it was attracted the best artistic force. According to the characteristic style of icon painting we can confidently attribute this icon to Moscow or Palekh school
The state of preservation is perfect.
