Martyrology - Collection of narratives of Christian torments, as well as a list of the suffering suffered by an innocent victim for the holy Christian faith.

George is the Saint Great Martyr, one of the most revered and famous in the Christian world. According to the canonical life, he suffered during the persecutions under the emperor Diocletian and after eight days of grievous martyrdom in 303 he was beheaded.

The rarest iconographic nuance is the image of one of the posthumous miracles of the saint - a little boy on the rump of a horse behind the Saint George. The boy was Egyptian Martyr. His father was a Christian, but his mother was not.

The main plot is when Saint George on horseback pierces a snake with a spear, saving the princess from death. This legend was interpreted as the Princess - The church and The serpent - The "ancient serpent" the devil.

This icon of the highest antique, artistic, sacred and historical value. The Cretan school in the 17-18th centuries was the leading one in Greece. Only the most significant icons were signed.
