Technique & Material: One-piece board of the trunk of the secular oak, gesso, tempera, drying oil, melted gold and gold leaf.

Description: The most detailed story of the famous iconography of the Resurrection - The Descent into Hell with many rare nuances in the composition. Such as the Lord of hosts with Cherubim - in the arc above the image of Christ in the top of the middle icon.

A high level of traditional painting. Well painted even the faces, that are smaller than a match head. Rendered in saturated colors. Gold painting in the technique of chrysography.
In the middle stamp there is the main event of Christianity: The Descent into Hell and the Resurrection. Around the middle stamp there are 12 stamps with the main great liturgical celebrations of the gospel.

Location stamps from left to right along the rows in chronological order:
1. Nativity of the Mother of God, Introduction in the temple the Mother of God, the Annunciation, the Nativity of Christ.
2. Meet the Lord, Baptism of the Lord
3. Entry into Jerusalem Jesus Christ, Transfiguration of our Lord
4. The Descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles, Pentecost, Assumption of the Mother of God, Exaltation of the Cross.

Details of each scene carefully painted out in bright colors on golden background.

Good state of preservation of its time, minor scrapes paint layer. Large size enhances the perception of icons and allows you thoroughly see all the small nuances of the plot, even with a fairly long distance.

This icon is Ideal as a single icon in the house and as centre of the collection, home iconostasis.Although only one this icon can replace the whole iconostasis, due to the fact that almost all the Gospel narrations are presented in it.

Old Believers didn't paint such icons for sale. Only under the order (if there was no order, there was no painting).

High level of the icons was explained by the fact that their customers, as well as icon painters - too educated, tempted and very rich Old Believers. Knew exactly what they wanted for their money. For example this icon had the value (cost) as a good wooden house.
