Description: Prophet Seth was the 3rd son of Adam and Eve. This painting demonstrates the top class of the Palekh icon painting school. This is the standard of the Palekh icon specifically for the upper class and the court environment. This is the rarest icon. It is very difficult to meet the Prophet Seth in Russian icon painting, especially in such an exquisite performance.
The personality of the prophet Seth is one of the most mystical in Christianity. Apocrypha says that the Prophet received secret knowledge and sciences - astronomy and others directly from Adam - his father.
Apocrypha and the official Gospel agree that his name is associated with wisdom and he lived for about 700 years. Also, Seth is highly revered in Islam under the name of Shis.
This icon is of the highest pictorial class, and also has a great religious and historical significance.
