Description:
Elegant and spirited image of the Saviour is made by talented icon painters
in the high traditions of the Moscow school of icon painting. Was used extremely expensive technique. The art is used with exceptional skill, which is telling us about an extraordinary talent and extensive experience of the masters.
The icon is decorated with precious silver holiness crown, that shows us an extraordinary status of this shrine. In the tradition of Russian Orthodox piety, such precious tribute, as this crown, were given as a token of gratitude to the icon from the faithful for a miracle which was made by this icon in faithful prayers.
The perfect state of preservation, the icon was disclosed from the under layer of darkened varnish. Fragment is left to the right margin of the icon.
There is a bronze donative plaque with an engraved text on the back side of the icon:
Gratitude from parishioners sat Bylov to Vasily Ilyich Sorokin for the help on the bell.
