Technique & Material: Powerful board, bone gesso, temepra egg, silver leaf and melted silver.
Description: Extremely unusual icon, perhaps this plot no longer exists. There is Italian influence in the style of icon painting itself, but it is very argonically within the canon.
Provenance. Private collection of the Romanov family. The brand under the "shirt" speaks about it. This icon is from Tsarskoye Selo, where is fabulously beautiful and chic, no less than in the Hermitage near St. Petersburg. The father of the current owner bought this icon at the end of the 40s after the war.
There is brand under the velvet shirt - bookplate.
The state of preservation is almost perfect.
Conservation. The icon was cleared from a slightly dark layer of varnish to leave it in absolutely original condition and at the same time to lighten the painting. The restoration was led by a senior restorer Ivan Dymov. In the final, there was additionally put a thin restoration layer of drying oil similar to the original to close.
