Description: The February Menaion includes several hundred personalities and plots of the holidays, which are painted with amazing skill. The artist was able to convey the difference in mood of faces, which size is smaller than a match head. The clothes is painted bright and luxuriously richly. Many paintings in gold on a background of gold leaf.
There are a lot of important and interesting holidays in February, (both from the main twelve holidays and less famous ones). For example: Candlemas; The seven youths of Ephesus; The acquisition of the head of John the Baptist; The Russian saint kings Michael, Roma, Fedor; The saint archbishops and metropolitans, etc.
Usually such icons are painted using the so-called method. "cursive", due to the large number of staff, painting takes a very long time. Here, we see perfection and richly decorative painting.
