Description: The icon was written by the Old Believer iconographer in the archaic Byzantine style of icon painting(as he was understood by the Russian Old Believers of the 17th century .. This major icon occupied a central place in their cell. Some warm, ingenuous and vulgar naive emphasizes the original expression and uniqueness of this icon. And it makes it true benchmark of Old Russian icons of the 17th century.
Perfectly preserved in spite of the antiquity. Origin (iznesenie) fair tree of the Holy Cross (Greek Ἡ Ðñüïäïò ôïõ Ôéìßïõ Óôáõñïý), and Honey (First) Spas - Orthodox feast of the Assumption on the first day of fasting - 1st of August, according to the Julian calendar. Russian name of this holiday "origin" - is not quite an accurate translation of the Greek word which means the ceremony, the procession. Therefore, the name of the holiday is adding by the word "iznesenie."
