Condition of the original preservation: Very good for it's age. In the lower part of the icon there is the burn from the candle. There are also small fragmentary scuffs of the paint layer.
Short information about the Stroganov school: Stroganov school of icon painting - Russian school of icon painting, that developed in the late XVI century. Got its name from the rich merchants - salt industrialists from Stroganov, as is most clearly manifested in a number of works, associated with their name. The best masters from the school were the Moscow icon painters who worked in the royal workshops. For the first time in the history of Old Russian painting, the artists of Stroganov school have opened the beauty and the poetic of the scenery. On the backgrounds of many icons there is shown the scenery panorams with ravines and forest glades, with hills covered with gold deciduous trees, herbs and flowers, with winding silver rivers, with a variety of animals and birds.
