Description:  Sophia - The Wisdom of God is one of the rarest and mystical images in Russian Orthodoxy, and therefore occupies a special place in the Russian Orthodox Church. The icon depicts the Mother of God and the incarnated Hypostatic Wisdom - the Son of God. In the Book of Proverbs of Solomon is said about Him: "Wisdom made for Himself a House and establish seven pillars" (9, 1). These words contain an indication of Christ, the Son of God, who in the apostolic epistles is called "God's Wisdom" (1 Cor. 1:30), and the word "House" contains an indication of the Holly Mother of God, from whom Christ was incarnate.

The compositional solution of this icon contains a lot of symbolic nuances and characters, since the iconography was formed from different sources: first of all from the Old Testament, prophecies of the Prophets like Solomon, and also from the Apocrypha.

This icon was painted by an Old Believer icon painter, in full accordance with the ancient canon of the 15th century.

This the rarest icon that has the highest collection value.
