Technique & Material: Board with the wide fields and with the deep ark. Gold leaf on the background and on the halo.
Description: The saint’s clothes are decorated with the finest and thinest gold ornaments which are made with ground gold paint and polished. Gold as a material, and in particular such flawless work with it, such as ground gold paint for emerald clothes. Such a talent was the lot of individual masters and make the icon is more expensive, both literally and figuratively. In the 18th century a rich customer was ready to save on anything, but not on the icon. A similar icon costed from 25 silver rubles. This is very big amount of money - like the annual salary of a worker in a factory. Therefore, such icons were available only to a small part of society. Condition of the icon: Skillful and thorough clearing the icon from the darkening oil for centuries. After a skillful and thorough restoration, when the dark layer of drying oil was removed, an unbelievably beautiful painting was opened. Flickering gold and bright, pure and saturated colors. In those days people did not like to mix paints.
In fact, the icon was under a conservation "skin".The restoration-conservation was carried out by a specialist of the highest category, Ivan Domov with an assistant.
