The icon shows a wonderful friendship between the lion and the Saint Gerasim.
St Gerasim found this lion with a wounded paw in the desert. Gerasim took pity on the animal and brought him in his monastery. Soon Leo has recovered remained to live in the monastery near the Jordan River. And Gerasim gave his friend such name - Jordan.
More than five years, lion has lived in the monastery of Saint Gerasimos surprising everyone with his wit and devotion to the elder. He helped around the house - Carried on his back water from river to the monastery.
When the Reverend Gerasim had to leave this world, lion also died on the St tomb. Jordan never wanted to be separated from his best friend.
Very high quality of painting. A rare story (plot).
The icon has a high collector's value.
