History of the plot: " Burning Bush - in the Pentateuch: burning, but no-burning out bush in which God appeared to Moses, who was tending sheep in the desert near Mount Sinai. When Moses approached the bush, to see "why the bush was on fire but not consumed" (Ish.3 2), God called to him from the burning bush, called to lift Israel people out of Egypt to the Promised Land. In Christianity, the Burning Bush - one of the Old Testament prototypes, pointing to the Mother of God. [1] This burning bush names itselves Immaculate Conception of Our Lady of Christ from the Holy Spirit.
In Orthodoxy,the name of the miraculous icon of the Mother of God, symbolically reveals several aspects of her worship and compiled on the basis of the most important Old Testament prototypes incarnation of Christ.
The subject is known from the early ages of Christianity. The complex symbolic and allegoric composition appeared in the 16th century, as a waist-high image of the Mother of God with Baby Jesus on Her hands, surrounded by heavenly spheres and two crossed rectangles with sharp angles (forming an eight-ended star).
At the end of the rays there are the heavenly forces and angels rulers of forces of nature that glorify the Holy Virgin; near the stars there are the angels in two-petal clouds – spirits of Wisdom, Mind, Fear and Piety.
Corners of the composition depict visions of the prophets – Sign of the Holy Virgin in a burning bush to Moses, a Seraph with a glowing coal in pliers to Isaiah; the bottom left is the vision of locked gates to Ezekiel and bottom right is the ladder with angels seen by Jacob.
The celebration of the icon is on the 4th of September (Julian calendar)."
